Beethoven: Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus
Schumann: Piano Concerto in A Minor*
Beethoven: Symphony No. 6, "Pastoral"

Rising quickly from assistant conductorships at Cleveland and Cincinnati, Tito Muñoz was recently named music director at the celebrated Opera National de Lorraine and has already guest-conducted the leading orchestras of the world in his young career. He is joined by the uber-talented Jeremy Denk, himself no stranger to the world's major concert stages. In Beethoven's Overture to the ballet Creatures of Prometheus, the composer introduces a theme that he would later re-use for his Eroica symphony. Robert Schumann's lone concerto for piano remains among the most beloved in the repertoire, and demands of the soloist both virtuosic technique and sensitive musicianship. The "Pastoral" symphony was actually composed at the same time as Beethoven's more famous Fifth. Perhaps as his own emotional antidote to the Fifth's raw emotion, the Sixth's lush and pleasing lines evoke the beauty of the natural world.
