The Art of the Violin

Gala A Huge Succes for the Philharmonic!

On May 17, nearly 200 gala guests joined patrons at the Performing Arts Center for the orchestra's Season Finale concert featuring cellist Alisa Weilerstein. Then, gala guests moved to the Ritz for cocktails, dinner and music with Guest of Honor Itzhak Perlman. An auction of violins as objets d'art as well as a performance of chamber music by Perlman, Weilerstein and Juilliard student Molly Carr was a highlight of the evening.

Guests in attendance included: Guest of Honor Itzhak Perlman; guest cellist Alisa Weilerstein; noted clarinetist Anthony McGill who most recently performed with Mr. Perlman at the Presidential Inauguration and will be a guest artist with the Philharmonic in November; County Executive Andrew Spano and Congresswoman Nita Lowey; Philharmonic Concertmaster Robert Chausow and his son; Principal trumpet Lowell Hershey; orchestra violinists David and Moira Tobey; as well as visual artists and auction contributors Arle Sklar-Weinstein, Stanley Eisenman, Luis Perelman and Peri Schwartz.
